Ask the Expert – Employee Accountability

Question:  How do I hold an employee accountable if they aren’t following safety procedures or policies?

Answer:  Your written IIPP should have specific details regarding what your safety policies are as well as the disciplinary procedures you have implemented to ensure employee compliance. As the employer, you have the authority and responsibility to implement disciplinary procedures that your employees are required to follow. Consider consulting an attorney if you are concerned that your procedures are not lawful.
